“Are we really going to do this?”

It was the year 2001, winter was approaching, and for the first time in 12 years I couldn’t have cared less.

Have you ever lost your passion, excitement, or enthusiasm for something you’ve loved for years? I have; for me, it was my love for skiing. Losing that vigor for one of my hobbies made me feel empty and uninspired.

This realization really took me by surprise. For years I maintained an insatiable love of the sport. I traveled the world in search of bigger mountains, from Minnesota, Utah, the Western US, Europe, to the very steep and consequential slopes of Alaska. Not a day went by where I wasn’t excited about getting into the hills, but here I was and I knew immediately that something had to change.

And change I did.

When my girlfriend (wife now) asked me “are we really going to do this?”, the answer was an easy yes. Twenty minutes later we had two one-way tickets to Hawaii.

Gaining Sales Motivation Tips from a Remarkable Life Experience

We ended up having four incredible, unimaginable years in Hawaii where we met new amazing people, went on breathtaking hikes, ate delicious new food, heard new music, got new challenging jobs, learned to surf, got married, and had a child along the way.

In those four short years, things changed dramatically… and it was incredible. Here are 4 sales motivation tips if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

  1. Stop Limiting Yourself

Don’t let the person you were yesterday, limit who you want to be today. I had labeled myself solely a skier, and everything I did served that purpose. But when that stopped working, I needed a life change (luckily I had the sense to make it happen).

Today, I’m a husband, father, business owner, friend, surfer, climber, biker, golfer, and skier. And trust me, there is so much to learn in each of those categories.

  1. Redefine Your Capabilities

Continue to redefine yourself and your capabilities. It was the constant chase and challenge that fueled my passion for skiing. With a little imagination, I could have found more ways to challenge myself in the ski world.

Are you really as good as you can get? Is there still room for improvement? Have you exhausted all the learning and growth potential of your current situation? What can you do to get even better?

Asking yourself these questions will help you find new passion and vigor in life.

  1. Imagine a Successful Future

It’s important to always dream and imagine a successful future for ourselves. There is no limit to the creativity we have inside of us. People always asked me how I got to live in Hawaii. The first thing we did was imagine it (then we purchased the tickets). It’s true that we become what we imagine, so continue to imagine an even more successful future with unique experiences.

 Manifestation through visualization.

  1. Enjoy the Journey

Life is full of ups and downs, so enjoy the ride! It’s always more exciting heading into Christmas morning than after we’ve exchanged gifts, right? The future is full of possibilities, and you can handle them when they arrive. Create action now to prepare for that future.
